Do you do this?

Was driving today and stopped at a red light. To my left the pedestrian sound trilled and the green walk light flashed. I started to go then realised I wasn’t walking? The car only travelled a metre or so.

Is this just me or do others do this?

I think we’ll call it a case of dralking – driving but wanting to walk?

Chaos?

This recently from Bruce.

Very powerful and interesting!

We need to return to such powerful pedagogy – a pedagogy that values the ‘artistry’ of the teacher and the real lives of the students. If we do this we can make classrooms powerful learning environments for all students – but especially for ‘at risk’ and neglected kids.

Thursday

An interesting day today.

Sometimes being the leader is very lonely.

You do your bit, make decisions, encourage, motivate and support others.

All you want is a diligent, disciplined and caring group of people to work with and serve with.

It’s a bit like running a long way. During the run there are some moments when you are floating and others when every step is like climbing a tall mountain. But how do you get to the finish?

You keep putting one foot in front of the other.

So that’s what I shall do!

And a picture of Ellie just to lighten the mood of this post.

Thanks for reading – just needed to vent!

River Again!

Seems that I am spending a lot of my time at the river these days. Rafting, walking the dog and now back to the Rangitikei with our younger classes as we teach them about the river.

We had a superb day together in the February sunshine.

Thanks everyone for a beautiful day.

Fun!

I have just begun my 27th year as a teacher – wow!

On Monday and Tuesday we rafted down the Rangitikei River with our senior room. Now I have done some a few things over the years and this experience ranks right up there.

Awesome trip.

Just look at these faces – says everything – and the talking on the boat asking questions, wonderings and theorising. A great couple of days. Superb leadership from Paul and team and wonderful children and parents.

And the day before I spent at Manfeild watching the motor racing. The sensation you get when watchingthese V8s start is quite unbelievable. The noise, sight, sound and feeling is simply stunning. Amazing skill and bravery and $$$!
