Some people have asked me why I have called my blog the Long Run. I’ll try to explain.
I like to run. I always have. Some books I have read talk about runners who are running away from something and those who are running towards something. I am not sure I fit into either category. I just like to run. It is time for my self. It is enjoyable. I choose when and where. I choose how far or fast. I don’t choose the weather and I usually don’t care what the weather is like. I try to run 5 days a week. I probably average about three days a week over the year.
I also like the concept of being in action but really being inactive. Running has no purpose. I just run and do not much at all. It is peaceful and free.
In the long run it will all turn out. When it is all said and done we will know. The long run is not an easy quick fix simple solution. It is life and it is good.
I believe in moderation so even though I currently run marathons for fun I will ease off and mainly run shorter stuff. When – we’ll find out in the long run.
“The Long Run” by The Eagles 1979
I used to hurry a lot, I used to worry a lot
I used to stay out till the break of day
Oh, that didn’t get it,
It was high time I quit it
I just couldn’t carry on that way
Oh, I did some damage, I know it’s true
Didn’t know I was so lonely , till I found you
You can go the distance
We’ll find out in the long run
(in the long run)
We can handle some resistance
If our love is a strong one (is a strong one)
People talkin’ about is
they got nothin’ else to do
When it all comes down we will
still come through
In the long run
Ooh, I want to tell you, it’s a long run
You know I don’t understand why you don’t
treat yourself better
do the crazy things that you do
‘Cause all the debutantes in Houston, baby,
couldn’t hold a candle to you
Did you do it for love?
Did you do it for money?
Did you do it for spite?
Did you think you had to, honey?
Who is gonna make it?
We’ll find out in the long run
(in the long run)
I know we can take it
if our love is a strong one
(is a strong one)
Well, we’re scared, but we ain’t shakin’
Kinda bent, but we ain’t breakin’
in the long run
Ooh, I want to tell you, it’s a long run
in the long run
in the long run, [etc.]

hi tom, came across your blog tonight. Hope Aurora was good to you. Did it myself a couple of years ago, think I did the last 2km in 7;30 but legs abs. wrecked at the bottom of the hill. Like your site. Actually found it by searching Moa, as I’m about to “launch” a Moa website this week so wanted to see if it would come up when I tried to google it – and it did’t yet… By the way Ive pinched a copy of Tims photo of the Woods hill to use if he doesnt mind. Good shot. You make the hill sound too easy! Cheers
